Everything racing at the Russell Boating Club

Our club has evening races on Wednesdays and every other Friday and a few Weekend Series races for a variety of Cups and Trophy usually starts in October each year.

The evening series are named after some of our sponsers which we encourage you to buy from or use their services if possible.


Our evening race series has three trophies that are race for. The Cater Marine Series, which includes a Women's Series, and the Omata Estate Series share alternative Wednesdays and the Willis Sails Series is raced Forthnightly on a Friday.

The Women Series is a four race series and each of the above evening races have a Spring and Summer Series made up of six or seven races.

Single Handed Series

Our Weekend Series of races held between October and May each season and are raced for a series of cups and trophies grouped together and sponsored by the Duke of Malborough Hotel.

The Single-Handed Series are three race days.

  • Race One: a "short around the islands" race.
  • Race Two: consists of three short races back to back with a 20 minute gap between and the
  • Race Three: third final race of this series is a 30 miler out around the inner Bay of Islands.

Our three race Two-Handed Series is sponsored Northland Spars and Rigging is two short course races and 30 miler.

The Interclub series against the Opua Crusing Club continues for the season 2017-8 and is raced as part of the Duke of Marlborough Hotel Weekend Series.

We have a four race Winter Series held monthly from June to September each year.

This seasons evening racing starts September 27th with the first of the Cater Marine Series followed by Omata Estate Series on 4th October and Willis Sails Series on October 6th. The Weekend Series first race is 15th October 2017
